To decelerate, it only requires the rider to press the handbrake or the pedal tightly. In this way, the amount of rotational force the wheel receives from the motor reduces. This subsequently decelerates the scooter. To vary the torque, the gear has to be shifted upwards or downwards. If a mountain has to be confronted, the gear has to shift downwards, and vice versa.
Most electric scooters can attain a maximum speed of just about 25 to 30kph and a maximum range of only 10 to 40 miles per charge.
